Questions About Compliance and Certification

Anywhere from a few weeks to more than six months, depending on your size and how mature your controls already are. Scytale, whose platform Elasticito uses, gives that range for its own customers. Automated evidence collection shortens the preparation. The audit itself is carried out by an independent audit firm, which Scytale can match you with from its audit network, and you agree the audit date with that firm.

Medium-sized and large organisations in the sectors listed in the Directive’s annexes, plus some smaller entities regardless of size. The annexes include energy, transport, banking, health, digital infrastructure and ICT service management. The Directive sets the ceiling on fines at no less than €10 million or 2% of worldwide turnover for essential entities, and €7 million or 1.4% for important ones. UK organisations are outside its direct scope unless they provide services in the EU. Their EU customers will still pass NIS2’s supply chain requirements down to them.

An early warning within 24 hours of becoming aware of a significant incident, an incident notification within 72 hours, and a final report within one month of that notification. The deadlines are set by Article 23 of NIS2. The early warning must say whether the incident is suspected to be malicious or could have a cross-border impact, and the authority can ask for an intermediate status report in between. Decide now who drafts each notice, because the 24-hour clock starts when you become aware.

DORA puts the duty on EU financial entities, and they pass it to their ICT providers through contracts. Since 17 January 2025, financial entities must keep a register of information covering every contract for ICT services, and review the risk of those contracts as part of their ICT risk framework. Services that support critical or important functions carry extra contractual requirements. If you sell technology into EU finance, expect security questions, audit rights and exit provisions in the contract.

For the controls and evidence, yes; the outcome differs by framework. ISO 27001 ends in a certificate and SOC 2 in an attestation report from a CPA firm, while NIS2 and DORA are laws whose duties you evidence to regulators and to customers. The frameworks overlap on risk assessment, supplier security and incident handling, so controls are built once and mapped to each. Scytale lists more than 80 frameworks, including Cyber Essentials Plus and South Africa’s POPI Act. Elasticito’s specialists set the scope and order with you.

Part-IS applies to EU aviation organisations whose information security risks could affect aviation safety. It comes in two regulations. Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/1645, covering organisations such as production organisations, has applied since 16 October 2025. Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/203 has applied since 22 February 2026 to organisations including Part-145 maintenance organisations, CAMOs, air operators and ATM/ANS providers. EASA’s Part-IS FAQ lists the exemptions, mainly for light aircraft operations.

No. TISAX is the automotive industry’s own assessment and exchange mechanism, run by the ENX Association and based on the Information Security Assessment (ISA) catalogue published by the VDA. An approved audit provider assesses you, and the result is shared with your customers through the ENX exchange rather than issued as a public certificate. If a car manufacturer asks for a TISAX label, an ISO 27001 certificate does not answer the request. The VDA has also published a new catalogue version, ISA 2027, so check which version your customer expects.

Most of the work can; the certificate and the report cannot. Automation collects evidence, monitors controls and keeps policies current, and Scytale covers both frameworks. The SOC 2 report itself comes from a CPA firm, and the same split applies elsewhere: an independent auditor for ISO 27001, an approved audit provider for TISAX. The change is in what the auditor receives. They get time-stamped evidence from one repository, in a format Scytale says auditors recognise, instead of screenshots gathered the week before.
